In yet another sign that the 2011-12 school year is right around the corner, the fourth ranked Boston College Eagles Women's Soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against cross-town rival Boston University in the season opener for both teams.

The game was delayed for 75 minutes due to a passing hail storm. Junior forward and MAC Hermann Trophy candidate Victoria DiMartino scored the Eagles' lone goal in the 41st minute, tying the game after BU scored in the 24th minute.

BC's senior goaltender Jillian Mastroianni stopped nine shots to earn the draw.

The women next hit pitch tomorrow as they host Fairfield at Newton Soccer Field starting at 1pm.

The men's soccer team hosts Northeastern in their second and final season tune-up today at 11am. The 12th ranked Eagles are coming off a 1-0 victory over Holy Cross in their first exhibition of the season this past Tuesday. The men's season begins on Friday, August 26 as they host the George Mason Patriots.
