Phil Steele Has Boston College In The I-Bowl Against San Diego State

Phil Steele recently released his bowl projections for the coming season on his blog. I hope you've booked your Shreveport, Louisiana hotel room for the day after Christmas now, Superfans.

Steele has the Eagles playing in the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl on Monday, December 26 opposite the San Diego State Aztecs. The only thing that makes this game even remotely exciting is the fact that the Eagles have never faced the Aztecs on the gridiron. That and the fact that I once visited San Diego (it was quite lovely). But really, that's all I'm coming up with.

Postseason college football. Feel the excitement!

Here are Steele's 2011-12 bowl projections for the ACC:

-- Orange Bowl (Jan. 4 at 8PM) -- Virginia Tech vs. Pittsburgh
-- Peach Bowl (Dec. 31 at 7:30) -- Florida State vs. Mississippi State
-- Champs Sports Bowl (Dec. 29 at 5:30) -- North Carolina vs. South Florida
-- Sun Bowl (Dec. 31 at 2) -- Miami vs. UCLA
-- Belk Bowl (Dec. 27 at 8) -- N.C. State vs. West Virginia
-- Music City Bowl (Dec. 30 at 6:40) -- Clemson vs. Tennessee
-- Independence Bowl (Dec. 26 at 5) -- Boston College vs. San Diego State
-- Military Bowl (Dec. 28 at 4:30) -- Georgia Tech vs. Navy

Home for the holidays: Maryland, Virginia, Duke, Wake Forest

Aside from the Eagles' snoozer in the I-Bowl, there are a couple interesting matchups above, including two ACC-Big East elimination games in North Carolina vs. South Florida and N.C. State vs. West Virginia (again). Winner gets promoted to the ACC and the loser relegated back down to the Big East. There's also an intriguing matchup between Georgia Tech vs. Navy in the Military Bowl, where the over/under on combined rushing yards will probably top 800.
