Boston College LB Mark Herzlich Signs With The New York Giants
Looks like the multiple reports stating that Mark Herzlich had signed with the Baltimore Ravens were a bit premature. The senior Boston College linebacker and cancer survivor will instead be taking his talents to the Meadowlands, Tweeting today that he has signed with the New York Giants:
"Decision is made I will be a #GIANT can't wait to get to #NYC. Thank you for everything."
That is music to this Giants fans ears. Herzlich joins an NFL franchise with deep ties to Boston College and gets to play close to his hometown of Wayne, Pennsylvania. Plus the Giants could certainly use the help at linebacker. ESPN's Dan Graziano thinks that Herzlich and the G-Men are a great fit:
"Got to like the move if you're a Giants fan. You know they need help at linebacker. You know Herzlich was, at one point, a universally feared athletic monster whose skills and controlled fury on the field would translate at any level. You don't know if he can ever get back to full strength and be that player again. But you do know that he's already kicked cancer's butt, and it's worth taking a chance on a guy who's showed what he showed pre-cancer and also the toughness and determination to beat it."
Best of luck Herzlich as he tries to catch on with the Giants. Let me know where I can buy my Mark Herzlich NY Giants jersey.
Be sure to congratulate Mark on Twitter at @MarkHerzlich. For more reactions and insights on the New York Giants, check out Big Blue View.

Yay Herzy!
You are joining my beloved Giants…
Hope you are the next LT (football-wise only)!

Best of luck Mark
I’m guessing worst case scenario is he makes the practice squad.
We all have to remember that last year when he was a “a step slower” he was only 5-6 months removed from the leg surgery. He’s had over an entire year to rehab the leg and get it stronger. Herzlich is going to make it in the NFL.
worst case scenario is he makes the practice squad
Worst case is he gets cut. Herzy still needs to establish his NFL chops, such as running a 4.7 40. Hope he can do it.

are you now part of the ACC media on media day?
the downer club was a comment about the ACC media, not about super-sensitive Bri of BCI!
ps notice my use of the word “hope” — suggestive of optimism!

you sir are no FAN of BC or Mark Herzlich. Traitor. Benedict Arnold. Waterwater is a realist/pessimist for all things related BC since he doubts Herzy!!!!!!
but Hoya
A poor attempt at a spoof. Realism can be part of optimism, as I have very nicely demonstrated.
But let us not forget that you actually are a quisling to BC Nation. (ps, Mr. Quisling, a traitor to Norway, was the last man executed in Norway, just an aside)
You want to hear it again: HoyaNOTeagle left a fellow eagle, me, for dead on the Rakes of Mallow and supplied our enemy, ND, with support comfort and ammunition to use against an Eagle and all Eagles. You’re like that Cali kid found in Afghanistan fighting for the Taliban.

Hello Pot. I'm Kettle. You're Black!
Waterwater, or shall I say Mr. Pessimistic, who is no FAN of Mark Herzlich. You are cheering for Mark to get cut so you can gloat to all off us about how you knew the actual worst case scenario. You are no FAN.
(see how it is irritating when someone twists your words in attempt to portray you in a negative way)
And since you will not drop the “traitor” crap from Rakes of Mallow, I’ll say it again. You were acting like a jack*$% and not contributing anything to a discussion about the Notre Dame-BC rivalry. I wouldn’t have cared if you were a BC, Notre Dame, Clemson, FSU, Maryland, Clippers, Jets, Colts, Patriots, Red Sox, or Yankee fan: the comments you were making were at times inappropriate and uncalled for.
but ya see
your diss is “all thumbs” — so I know it is bogus.
And that fact that you now admit that you do not care that it was a BC fan you ratted on shows your quisling ways — its about you, not about team.
Remember this: there in no “i” in team or blog or boston college or loyalty. But there is an “i” in quisling and traitor.
:~)

So it’s safe to say you would have been front and center at the Nuremberg Trials. Loyal to a fault. Congrats buddy.
You are the definition of a hypocrite. When BC fans like Brian, Hysteria, or myself have doubts that BC can win tough road games under Spaz but hope we’re wrong and we win at V.Tech and ND this year- we’re pessimists who don’t “dream big” like waterwater.
Worst case is he gets cut. Herzy still needs to establish his NFL chops, such as running a 4.7 40. Hope he can do it.
How is this not a pessimistic view? Because you used the word “hope”??? Give me a break. Tell me how your worst case scenario isn’t more pessimistic than mine? Are you being more of a realist? But we couldn’t be realists back than? Keep backpedaling…

But Kiwi is a free agent….**crosses fingers that Kiwi ends up with the Patriots.

It would be a little more than weird if Herzlich takes Kiwanuka’s 94 jersey with the Giants, considering Kiwi was also 94 at BC.

Congrats Mark
All loyalties aside, I am just ecstatic that we will be able to watch Mark every Sunday. I know it’s homerism, but I still think he is going to be something special. His leadership, drive and instincts are all things that can’t be taught and will bring him success in the NFL. And what the hell, I’d love to watch him chasing Michael Vick and Tony Romo four times a season.
