2011 NFL Draft First Round Open Thread: Anthony Castonzo Draft Watch

Best of luck to Anthony Castonzo tonight in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

The draft kicks off tonight at 8 PM. If you can't watch the first round on TV with ESPN or NFL Network, fret not. NFL.com will carry a live stream of the Draft so you can get your fill of BC's Mike Mayock and Rich Eisen. Here is the NFL Draft TV schedule and here's the complete 2011 NFL draft order

Castonzo looks to become the seventh Boston College Eagles first rounder since 2002. Most final mock drafts have him landing with either the Dallas Cowboys (9th), Detroit Lions (13th), New England Patriots (17th) or New York Giants (19th). Us Superfans are basically split on where Castonzo will get drafted tonight. Forty five percent think Castonzo will get drafted in picks 9-16, while 44% think he'll be drafted with picks 17-24.

Leave your thoughts on the first round of the NFL Draft and give us your Anthony Castonzo Draft predictions below. Go Eagles!

The new england pats select Anthony Castanzo out of BC!!

HAND DOWN MAN DOWN- MARK JACKSON
One more than Shaq. You can take that to the bank- Kobe Bean Bryant
The only predicament is, deciding what to put on....The Big Boy. VAN GUNDY!!!! hahahaha

If Von Miller is a #2 overall pick ...

Can Kuechly be a #1 pick in two years?

perhaps

probably needs to put on some more muscle but he certainly has the time to do that. would be pretty cool

Pretty cool is an understatement. It would be fantastic

Kuechly certainly has the ability, but I think BC’s “bend but don’t break” defensive philosophy will limit his big playmaking abilities a la Von Miller.

Miller really got turned lose his junior and senior seasons and racked up a bunch of sacks.

B/C he isn't a pass-rusher

He is a fringe top 10 pick. I think it has more to do with his position and skill-set than the defensive philosophy.

I would expect him to go somewhere close to where Rolando McClain went last year.

Kuechly

My friend and I were just talking about this…even though NFL people may question Kuechly’s raw strength, he can clearly shed blockers and make tackles. Everyone this year game-planned to block Kuechly, and no one could.

It would be awesome to see him at starting middle linebacker in the NFL (after he finishes four years at BC of course).

Didn’t the Bengals have 2 of 3 of those guys last season? They went 4-12.

Add AJ Green and you’ve got, what, … a 6-10 team?

Plus I’m sure the Bengals schedule is weak this year after finishing 4-12 last season. The NFL loves to give bad teams weak schedules the following season.

Had the Falcons trading up to 6 to take Julio Jones …

For the guys that project like 7-8 rounds, what is the batting average here? Gotta be under .100, right?

but am extremely happy for him. He’s going to do well there.
