Is Boston College's Dallas Elmore Transferring?
[Ed. note -- Edited, Front Page'd]
In the The Heights' interview of Reggie Jackson discussing his decision to declare for the NBA Draft, I noticed that the news source also mentioned that Dallas Elmore could be transferring. Here is the quote:
"The future of the basketball programs now stands at an unclear crossroads, as it is possible that besides Rehnquist and Humphrey, the team could be made up entirely of freshmen and sophomores. This is because there are rumors circulating around campus that Dallas Elmore may be transferring."
If Dallas Elmore leaves, BC might lose a valuable asset to a team that might have to rely on defense to win. Elmore also is a decent three point shooter, so Donahue would lose someone extremely valuable to his system. However, I think the worst part of losing Elmore is that Donahue would be losing one of the two upperclassmen that matter to the team (assuming Reggie leaves).

I love the fan posts (and anyone talking about BC) so I don’t mean to be overly critical but I can’t see how Elmore is “extremely valuable” to Donahue’s system. He averaged 2.7, 3.9, and 2.3 points per game while at BC. His 3pt % was .222, .000, and .297.
I think it’s safe to say we know what he is at this point. I’d rather see one of the freshmen take his minutes and use them to develop into a more substantial role on the team.
Elmore
Kind of surprising to hear since I’m pretty sure Elmore is engaged (or married?) to another student at BC. Maybe she is graduating or something like that…
At this point, whether Elmore stays or goes would have a fairly minimal impact.

Yeah, Elmore is hardly a guy I am going to worry about transferring
He was going to need to put in a ridiculous amount of work this summer to become the type of player we needed to for next year and it is pretty clear he was never going to do so for us.
If Reggie goes, I will be happy to see him go as it will allow for coach Don to get more of his guys in and start the rebuild right away rather than pushing it back another year.
Leadership?
Who steps up as a leader? Leading scorer Danny Rubin?
We’re going to need some of these incoming recruits to mature pretty quickly and take on more of a leadership role next season. I wasn’t convinced Elmore was the guy to lead us next year, but this becomes even more important now.

Elmore is by far not the savior!
Elmore gave inconsistent minutes this entire season. If Reggie does transfer, Donahue a gets a chance to build his program from scratch and in the long run be better for it. What’s the old expression… A new broom sweeps clean?
P.S. I think Reggie would have been a fool not to test the waters, but I, too, believe he will return.
How will his draft stock go down in workouts, etc.? You’ve seen what kind of athlete he is during games, there is no way coaches won’t be drooling over him after he works out for them. The only possible thing I can think of is some sort of interview problem, but from everything I know about him the kid is squeaky clean and says the right things.
Just not seeing him pulling back unless his mindset is lottery or stay in school.
Only want Elmore back because of depth
With Jackson most likeley leaving that will leave us with 11 players then if Elmore leaves thats 10. 3 less than what we had last year. I hope Donahue can bring in 1 more recruit to at least give us 11. I hope we dont have to put in Peter Rheinquist playing when everyone else gets tried. Elmore isnt gonna help much but you never know. We might see Danny Rubin turn into a 10 ppg player. No one thought that Jordan Williams would be so good and look at him now.

Did you really just compare Danny Rubin to Jordan Williams?

No
Just said that we can have one guy i used Danny Rubin in this case step up and be a major contribuitor like a Jordan Williams or Reggie Jackson. It probably wont happen but its a possibility.

I like Elmore's game but....
I’m not going to change my season win prediction if he leaves or not nor would I call him a decent 3 point shooter
Why transfer?
I know it’s impossible to speculate on why, but elmore has one year of eligibilty left. He should have every opportunity to see minutes next year. I don’t get it.
Maybe he can’t forgive the Don for starting the obviously superior Cahill?
