Jordan Williams Enters NBA Draft And The Reggie Jackson Draft Watch

Maryland's sophomore center Jordan Williams sent out a press release today announcing that he's filed paperwork for the NBA Draft, though he's only "testing the waters" and will not sign with an agent. Via Tracking the Terps:

"I'm excited about testing the waters and seeing where I would be," Jordan Williams said in a news release. "It's always been a dream of mine to play at the next level. This will give me an opportunity to get feedback from some NBA coaches and scouts on what parts of my game need improvement in order to be successful."

Testudo Times thinks Williams has no intentions of going pro and will be back for his junior season. But who knows at this point. Williams will have until May 8 to decide to return to Maryland.

But what if Williams does jump and BC's Reggie Jackson stays? Does Jackson become the heir apparent for next season's ACC Preseason Player of the Year honors? Gone would be four-fifths of this year's All-ACC first team -- Nolan Smith (graduation), Malcolm Delaney (graduation), Kyle Singler (graduation) and Jordan Williams (NBA Draft) -- with only Jackson returning. Or would another player like Harrison Barnes or Austin Rivers (they keep getting younger and younger!) get the Preseason POY nod?

This, of course, is only a valid question if Jackson stays. Does he stay? Thoughts?

Of Course

I dont see him leaving mainly because he dosent do well in big games such as Clemson, Duke and UNC. His senior year will be a good one especially because he can be the preseason ACC player of the year and if he has a great year maybe an All American. But if he does go to the draft i think he will be a second round pick.

Hope So

He’ll be needed to coordinate a basically freshman team and really show his leadership skills.

Reggie

I can’t help thinking how different the world would have been had Reggie made that shot at the end of the NC game in Chapel Hill!

BC would have been in the First Four … beat USC … lost to Georgetown … Kansas goes to the Final Four.

I’m hearing he’s gone, he doesn’t want to come back.

ESPN has him as a bubble lottery pick due to the athleticism and length.

Why would he come back? It makes no sense for him. His stock can only go down playing for a middling ACC team.

As for pre-season POY, stop being a BC homer. The only way Reggie gets it is if Barnes, Kyrie, et al go pro.

Yeah, thinking Reggie Jackson could be the ACC Preseason Player of the Year after 4/5 of the All-ACC First Team depart was totally ridiculous on my part …

Mea culpa.

If he were even a 1st round pick, it makes no sense for him to comback

But he certainly won’t be basing his decision on what ESPN says. I can see him doing exactly what Jordan Williams is doing by entering his name, finding out where he is rated by NBA GMs and if he is in fact high enough then he will sign with an agent.

Reggie Jackson

I’m glad Reggie Jackson entered. I think he has a great opportunity to prove himself and improve his stock big time. He’s relatively unknown but I expect a lot of buzz soon. Not a lot of people got to see BC play but he is a really interesting prospect that should get alot of attention once the combine starts and workouts pick up
