Boston College Linebacker Luke Kuechly Wins Butkus Award
It was truly a legendary season for Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly. He led the nation in tackles (191), three interceptions, one of which was one of the greatest returns in recent school history. Earlier this week he was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Today he received an even bigger honor; one that had unfairly eluded him during his sophomore season. Luke Kuechly has won the Butkus Award, according to Frank Spaziani.
Earlier today Kuechly was presented the award given to the nation's top linebacker. On hand was legendary Chicago Bears' linebacker and trophy namesake, Dick Butkus.
Kuechly beat out Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o, Alabama linebackers Dont’a Hightower and Courtney Upshaw, as well as Nebraska’s Levonte Davis, Georgia’s Jarvis Jones. Last season Kuechly lost to Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller, even though he had superior statistics to Miller in almost every category.
Now we all go back to the waiting game. First, can Kuechly take home the Nagurski Award given to the nations best defensive player? Also when will Luke Kuechly make his decision about his future, and what will that decision be?

Anyone like Luke’s chances for the Nagurski? Part of me thinks he has a good shot, but if I could bet I’d put my money on the Honey Badger.

Didn’t the Honey Badger fail a drug test? Also, he didn’t get into the end zone on that punt return. /DeSean Jackson’d

Yup, for smoking fake weed. But in the eyes of the committee does that even matter. He plays for LSU that’s all they will see.

Suspended or not, the guy is an unreal talent who’s made more big plays in big games than anyone else in the country. If he wins the Nagurski he would have earned it.
On special teams. Not necessarily on D.

Just like Bos
The inaugural Butkus winner was a junior, BrIan Bosworth. Bos returned for his senior year and became a 2 time Butkus winner! (and later an NFL bust!)
