The recruiting news coming out of Chestnut Hill is the sort Boston College would rather do without. Tight end Sam Grant, fresh off a trip to Michigan is now just a soft verbal. So he’s off the Eagles’ board for now. It’s a similar story for running back Akeel Lynch, who is "entertaining other places," according to his high school coach.

Blauds

Waiting for the Blauds article telling us fans not to focus on recruiting because it doesn’t matter and has no bearing on the brightness of BC’s future football teams.

proper citations

The link in the article on Akeel Lynch is to an ESPN article on November 17th!

Lynch’s HS coach states: “"Yes he did commit to BC, but that situation seems to be changing," St. Francis coach Jerry Smith said. "It’s real fluid over there.”

Obviously that was said almost a month ago and well before GDF indicated nothing’s fluid here and nothing’s changing. Again, you guys can go off about why that’s wrong, absurd, etc., but your citing this now like it’s up-to-date news and more reason the sky is falling.

I live in Lynch’s hometwon and we’re getting reports on his recruiting all the time locally and there’s nothing recent. This isn’t to say he might not have taken calls from other schools at some point, or even now, but your the blog-post today is misleading.

Just reporting what I read from a very reliable source. I heard a while ago that Lynch was keeping his options open too.

understand

But the way the article is written…“recruiting news coming out of Chestnut Hill” makes it sound like it’s today’s news when (a) It’s almost a month old, and (b) the source, the coach, WAS specifically citing an unstable situation when, SINCE THEN, it is completely stable.

I think that’s worth mentioning. When you don’t, you’re repeating the mistake and creating an impression that isn’t accurate (not that Lynch may/may not be “soft,” but that there is some RECENT INDICATION of that. There isn’t.).

This is false:

Lynch recently visited Iowa, received an offer, and very much enjoyed the visit. Stop trying to pretend things are “stable” when they’re not.

The best BC coach of the last 15 years should have no problem closing on both these recruits.

Maybe he means dog years?

It would make perfect sense, then.

GO BC!

huh, it is a direct quote of a DEC 13 ARTICLE

rcmbc81… what was in your cereal today everyday??.

. . . . the article when I clicked is dated Dec 13 and the title of the article also says Dec 13 and BCi is quoting the article.

“ACC Football Commitment Lists: Atlantic Division, Dec. 13
Mark Thompson December 13, 2011 2
Share It’s time to take another look at the ACC’s Atlantic Division football commitments.

All names of recruits will appear in bold.

hey, don't want to fight, but...

wake up. The Dec 13th article links a Nov 17th ESPN article – the ESPN article is the source of the Lynch report. It’s shoddy reporting by the ACC site, and the mistake is repeated here.

I’ll wait for your apology…

ha ha

you’re totally nuts. You think guys running a blog for free in their spare are not allowed to quote from a professional journalist’s article dated Dec. 13 without first conducitng a full investigation and examination of tits sources. That is just dumb, unreasonable and plain old stupid.

How’s that working for you as an apology.

"not allowed?"

the difficulty w/ debating you Sprey, and many of your ilk, is you can’t stay on point. I simply clarified/corrected the information presented – that is, the perception that this was up-to-the-minute reporting on BC’s recruiting situation and Akeel Lynch in particular. Then you come on board calling me out for not being able to read, “hey, it’s a direct quote of a Dec 13th article…”, yada, yada. Turns out, you were wrong, I was right. Do you apologize? No, you attack me again, by this time I would hope, KNOWING what I said was accurate and that your attack looks foolish, if not plain dumb.

That’s why I don’t bother too often on message boards, blogs, etc.- it’s a waste of time with certain people.

As for no answer to your Iowa post – “rcmbc81 goes quiet” (get a grip Sprey) – strangely enough, I have a job and was in Court; sorry for the delay. But that aside, I never said that Lynch was not soft to BC now – in fact I acknowledged he was – again, stick with me here Sprey, I said the article conveyed month old information and gave the impression it was a recent report. Entirely accurate. Stay on point Sprey.

Out.

No one cares if you are lawyer or go to court. Surprised you feel so insecure you need to try to prop yourself up like that. Quite telling.

let’s stick to your comments. You comments are unreasonable, and anal is the extreme. They are also the remarks of a hypocrite

I am surprised that you would make the big comment about BCI not creating the right timely impression, and demanding BCI check source, when you did not check your sources before posting. You did not follow your own high standards. tsk tsk

you gave the following FALSE Impression:

It’s almost a month old, and (b) the source, the coach, WAS specifically citing an unstable situation when, SINCE THEN, it is completely stable.

A simple search of “Akeel Lynch” in Google would have provided you with timely information that you could have shared with your post. Instead. you submitted a misleading post. how could you?

Ain’t it a funny thing what happens when the kettle calls the pot black!

NOW. let’s see if you can follow your second demand: go apologize to our hard working man, AJ. Right now. Go on now.

and just in from the Hawkeye Insider
’12 RB Akeel Lynch, a soft verbal to Boston College, officially visited Iowa over the weekend. The Buffalo NY product said Hawkeye Head Coach Kirk Ferentz was coming to see him in person on Tuesday.
