Another week, another 20+ point spread for the Boston College Eagles.
The Wynn LV has released opening lines on this week's college football action, and BC finds itself again a 20+ road underdog this weekend as they travel to Blacksburg to take on the Hokies. Virginia Tech is coming off a 38-17 victory at Wake Forest. The Eagles, meanwhile, had the week off to regroup and are coming off a 22-point loss to Clemson.
While the Eagles and Hokies have had a great back-and-forth in ACC play after BC joined the conference, we have been treated to two noncompetitive performances against the Hokies under Spaz. In 2009, BC lost 48-14, scoring their only points in garbage time. Last year it was an embarrassing home loss to Virginia Tech where the Eagles failed to get on the board.
Here are the last eight lines and results from BC-Virginia Tech games in the ACC.
2005: Virginia Tech 30, Boston College 10 (BC +13.5)
2006: Boston College 22, Virginia Tech 3 (BC +2.5)
2007: Boston College 14, Virginia Tech 10 (BC +3)
2007: Virginia Tech 30, Boston College 16 (BC +5)
2008: Boston College 28, Virginia Tech 23 (BC -3)
2008: Virginia Tech 30, Boston College 12 (BC +1)
2009: Virginia Tech 48, Boston College 14 (BC +13.5)
2010: Virginia Tech 19, Boston College 0 (BC +3.5)
Boston College is 3-5 ATS against the Hokies as a member of the ACC, including two losses in the ACC Championship Game.
Other week 8 ACC lines: Virginia is a 5.5 point favorite over N.C. State, Florida State is a 16.5 point favorite over Maryland, Wake Forest is a 2.5 point road favorite at Duke and Miami is a 2.5 point favorite as they host the Yellow Jackets. Finally, Clemson is a 10-point favorite over the Heels down in Death Valley.
