According to multiple sources, Stoops is out as head coach. Athletic director Greg Byrne will likely confirm the announcement at the press conference.

This does not come as much of a surprise to those who follow UA football. Stoops was on the hot seat entering this season and a 1-5 start (with that lone victory coming over Northern Arizona University) has turned the entire fan base on the coach once thought of to be one of the true rising stars in college football.

Golf clap to Arizona's athletic director Greg Byrne for firing his head football coach after a 1-5 start to the season with his lone victory coming over I-AA Northern Arizona.

Novel idea.

Probably wouldn’t have if the fans were late to games.

Once other jobs open up, more pressure on Gene to make a move before candidates start getting snapped up

I hope Gene takes notice and starts firing some fans before he has to endure watching them come in late for the length of a 1-11 season.

Thoughts on signing Stoops?

Don’t know a ton about him besides the obvious that he is Bob’s brother

Agreed

If he couldn’t make it at Arizona (one of the biggest party schools I think) with all the decreased academic standards. Not to mention the relative closeness to recruiting hotbeds of California and Texas. It is hard to see him winning at BC.
