2010-11 Boston College Men's Basketball Schedule Released

PrintOn Thursday, the ACC released their full men's basketball schedule for the 2010-11 season. Here are the highlights:
- BC opens the season at home against St. Francis NY, a team they handled easily last year 72-44.
- The Eagles will be on the ESPN family of networks nine times this season.
- This year's Commonwealth Classic between BC and UMass will be played at the Garden on December 4.
- If you're looking for a marquee non-conference opponent, Texas A&M is really it. The Aggies finished last year with a kenpom ranking of 17.
- BC will play five teams that finished 200+ in last year's final kenpom rankings -- Holy Cross (226), Bucknell (235), Yale (255), St. Francis (310) and Bryant (346)
- One-fourth of the Eagles' 16 ACC games tip at 9 PM. That seems a bit much, no?

BC Hockey vs. BU at Conte. BC Basketball vs. UMass at the TD Garden. And (knock on wood) potentially BC Football vs. ACC Coastal Winner in Charlotte. Take that in for a second.
I think it's a great idea to have games at the Garden, but the timing couldn't have been worse.
BC struggles in the attendance department to begin with. But when you have a rivalry hockey game, a rivalry hoops game at the Garden and (hopefully) the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte, it’s spreading an already elusive fan base thin.
