Seminoles WR Dismissed From Team: Florida State At It Again?
[Ed. note -- edited and bumped from FanPosts]
New coach, same old Florida State? Or is this a sign that first year coach Jimbo Fisher has a lower tolerance policy than his predecesor?
Florida State's Jarmon Fortson has been dismissed from the team after reportedly failing a drug test.
"Fortson, a junior from Hurtsboro, Ala., was the Seminoles' third-leading receiver last season, finishing with 45 catches for 610 yards with four touchdowns. He was expected to be one of quarterback Christian Ponder's biggest weapons this coming season."
Looks like we don't have to wait for the season to begin for Florida State to be affected by its bad character issues.
Reactions seem to be mixed as to the impact this will have on the FSU program. Some seem relieved that Fortson is gone, thinking that he was a ticking time bomb that would have made bad headlines later in the season. Others think this is a significant loss for the Seminoles passing game. After all, Fortson did catch 45 balls for 610 yards and 4 TDs last season.
In his two games against BC, Fortson was largely a non-factor in two Seminole losses -- 1 catch for 3 yards in 2009 and 1 catch for 14 yards in 2008.
Thoughts? Reactions?

Good and bad?
Good news: one less talented target for Ponder to throw at …
Bad news: this was the type of FSU midseason antics that could really disrupt a team during the season. Fisher nipped the problem in the bud pretty early.

Fortson made highlight catches
but he had been a candidate to be kicked off before due to bad acts and his terrible route running and catching.
This team will improve in '10... on its 16-16 conference record over the last 4 years.... after losing 20 games in the last 4 years... after having the 7th worst major-conference defense... after not even winning its own division in the ACC in the last 4.
