Boston College Men's Soccer Announces 2010 Schedule

The Boston College men's soccer team announced their 2010 schedule on Tuesday. The Eagles will be looking to improve on their 14-9-0 (5-3-0 ACC) season from a year ago. BC finished the regular season in second place in the ACC, only one point out of first place.

The ACC is once again stacked in men's soccer, with six of the nine programs ranked in the preseason NSCAA Men's Soccer Poll. A seventh program -- N.C. State -- was in the also receiving votes category. The men's team earned a preseason national ranking of 12 after finishing the 2009 season at #15.

The good news is that of the five other ACC programs ranked in the preseason top 25, the Eagles get to host three of those teams at home. Starting right off the bat, the Eagles open their ACC schedule against No. 6 Maryland. They will also host No. 4 North Carolina (October 15) and No. 2 Virginia (October 22). The Eagles will have two huge ACC road games against No. 11 Duke (September 24) and No. 3 Wake Forest (October 30).

Also, maybe I've been living under a rock and this has been in place for a while, but I'm really digging the 7 PM, Friday night starts. If you are in town for one of the Eagles' seven home football games, you should definitely consider checking out the men's soccer team. The Maryland game is the day before the Kent State game (3:30 start), N.C. State the night before Notre Dame, and the Virginia game a day before the Maryland football game. While I was living on Newton campus, I always enjoyed going to the men's soccer team games and they've really held their own since moving to the ACC.
