Huge news today on the scheduling front. The Holy War between BC and Notre Dame is set to return, with six games added to the schedule starting in 2011.
The rivalry was scheduled to end this fall, with the Eagles hosting the Fighting Irish on October 2 at Chestnut Hill.
Now, with six new games added to the rivalry, Boston College is scheduled to host the Fighting Irish at Alumni Stadium in 2012, 2015 and 2019.
The Eagles will travel to South Bend, Ind., to play Notre Dame in 2011, 2016 and 2018.
Of course, this is great news, but it will present some scheduling problems for BC in the short term. The Eagles' 2011 and 2012 schedules have been filled for some time now, so the Irish will be bumping one of these teams off of our non-conference schedule:
2011 - Northwestern, Buffalo, at UCF, UMass
2012 - at Northwestern, at Buffalo, Army, Rhode Island
One should hope that BC ditches their games with I-AA UMass and Rhode Island, but dropping the Buffalo series may also be a possibility.
