Lawrence's Walk-Off Pushes BC Baseball Past Miami

Stay connected for news and updates

In yet another wild postseason game, the Boston College baseball team found a way to extend their season and keep their slim NCAA Tournament hopes alive.

BC and Miami went into the ninth inning tied 5-5. In the top of the ninth, however, Miami tagged BC close Matt Brazis for 5 runs, including a grand slam from the 'Canes Zeke DeVoss.

With their season seemingly in the books, the Eagles rallied from five runs down in the bottom half of the inning to force extras.

In the top of the twelfth, Andrew Lawrence saved BC by gunning down Miami's Stephen Perez at the plate to preserve the tie. Then, in the bottom of the inning, with pinch-runner Philip Miclat on first, Lawrence tattooed the first pitch he saw over the right field wall for the walk-off win, exclaiming "I am king of the diamond! Let there be an abundant clubhouse feast. Bring me the finest meats and cheeses in all the land!"

The BC win helps bolster their NCAA Tournament resume and puts them in position to advance out of Division A with a win tomorrow against Florida State and some help from FSU and Da U (in the form of wins over Virginia).
