6 ACC Teams In 2010 NCAA Tournament Field
From the ACC, Duke (1), Maryland (4), Clemson (7), Florida State (9), Wake Forest (9), and Georgia Tech (10) all got invites to the Big Dance. Virginia Tech was one of the first teams left out of the NCAA field of 65, although it sounds like they only have themselves to blame.

William & Mary
Have too many just terrible losses, I mean bad.

William & Mary does have the head-to-head over Wake Forest.

Virginia Tech has no one to blame but themselves. Well, themselves and BC. We were their only loss against a team with an RPI 100+. Definition of “bad losses.”

Bilas
… gets a high five!
“This is the weakest at-large field in the history of the tournament. If you can’t make it in this year, you probably can’t really play.”

Flabbergasted
Thought 2 likely, 3 a stretch.
ACC got most of these teams in on reputation alone.
We complain about the bowl bids and SEC teams getting preferential treatment, but the ACC got just that this Sunday.
If you look at the first teams out
Could you really say their resumes were more impressive

Other than giving Duke probably the best possible seed and the easiest road to the Final Four, not sure I agree.
Duke and Maryland were definitely in. Florida State and Clemson played well all season. Georgia Tech rode the momentum of a strong ACC Tournament into the NCAAs. The only questionable entry was Wake Forest, but they have enough quality wins over tourny teams (Richmond, Xavier, Gonzaga, Maryland, Clemson) to get them in.

If you want to talk about getting in on reputation alone, see: North Carolina, The University of
Home game in the N.I.T. with a 16-16 record.

The Nobody's Interested Tournament
UNC will get preferential treatment in all tourney, because in the end its a money thing. Who’s a bigger draw. It’s unfortunate that your on-court performance has little to do with these little tourneys once you meet their minimum qualifications. Even those qualifications are so ambiguous. I don’t believe any tourney says you have to be .500 to make it, they use terms such as “overall performance”.
give me a break.
CBI
Speaking of ambiguous qualifications, how did Oregon State get into the CBI with a record of 14-17?
Not that BC would have accepted an invite, but really?

CBI must have a deal where the previous year’s tournament champ is automatically invited back. That’s the only rationale I can come up with for inviting Oregon State.
