Around SBN: Lakers Should Trade Andrew Bynum So He Doesn't Go To Waste

But, admit it, playing Boston College is, well, about as exciting as getting a pair of brown socks from your uncle on Christmas morning. Wow, gee, thanks. I needed socks. How did you know? Nothing against Boston College, a proud football program with a fine tradition. Just not this year. Doug Flutie or Matt Ryan won't be at AT&T Park on Jan. 9. The Eagles won't be coached by Frank Leahy, Tom Coughlin or Jack Bicknell. Is getting to play a 7-5 team that finished fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference really all the reward the Pack gets for going 12-1 and being ranked 13th in the nation?

So they think they are something special......

Boy, let me tell you, Nevada has one nice season in the crappy WAC and these guys think they are hot stuff — deserving of national attention and praise. They must be drinking the same pure mountain water that Boise drinks. That water has got them wacked. I can’t wait to rock these punks. Look at the rest of the Nevada ego in the article:

The Wolf Pack is expected to trample the Eagles. . ..The Pack simply has to win on Jan. 9 or else the nation will perceive their No. 13 BCS ranking as a joke. Beating Boston College does nothing for the Pack.

The Pack should be playing someone like an 11-1 Michigan State, a 9-3 Alabama, a 10-2 Missouri, a 10-3 Nebraska, Any of those teams would be a worthy opponent for this Pack team. And if you want to stick them with a 7-5 opponent, how about Florida, Penn State or Notre Dame? Beating any of those big-name programs would be the perfect way to end this Pack dream season. But, no, the Pack gets a pair of brown socks as a bowl gift.

According to Nevada, BC is not even a worthy opponent. Not even worth stepping on the field against a lowly WAC team. I hope this goes right up in the BC locker room bulletin board (they still have those?) as a little motivation.

BC boys, hear this from Nevada: YOU ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO EVEN BE OUR OPPONENT.

Dear Andre Williams-

Thanks

I don’t appreciate them shitting on BC, nor the hubris (you play who you play in the bowl game, deal with it), but being objective here, Nevada is in fact a better team. Their schedule wasn’t impressive, though they mostly looked good doing it, and their best win (Boise State) is several times better than what ours was (Syracuse?). I’m not going into this game with any delusions that BC is going to take Nevada to the woodshed; the Eagles only beat one FBS team that finished with a winning record (7 wins no less), eking out wins over a bunch of mediocre teams to get bowl eligible, so just be happy if they win at all.

Admittedly, BC is nothing special this year, but wow, Nevada media are you kidding me? 1 good season in the WAC and suddenly you can look down your nose at other programs and complain for not being held in the same regard as Florida, Notre Dame and Michigan State. Wha..what?!

Pretty arrogant...

Isn’t this essentially the same team that lost to SMU by 5 touchdowns in a bowl game last year?

Not good

You may call it arrogance, I would say that BC right now is just not very good. They have detiorated to the level when ND ran up the score and won 54-7 under Lou Holtz. They need a complex offense and not the USO “dirty shorts” give the ball to the isolated one man backfield. I would say that from someone who visited the BC campus last March that the arrogance lies “knee deep” on the Heights. There is no humility in trying to get better for God and country. It is all “me,me, me”, get out of my way ‘cause of “I have big bucks” and I’ll buy your business if you don’t like it. I may even let a “few black players” “sweep up the stands” in exchange for their scholarship.
