Trends: The Eagles are unbeaten in their last 6 games against the Black Bears, including a 7-6 overtime victory in last year's Hockey East Championship Game. The BC senior class is 6-1-3 against Maine going back to the 2007-08 season, including a 3-0-1 mark at home. BC is 5-0-1 in its last 6 games at home. BC center Pat Mullane won 20-of-25 faceoffs last weekend in the Eagles' two-game series with Vermont. After starting the season 1-2-1, Maine has rattled off five wins and is unbeaten in their last six games.
Maine's Leading Scorers: Jr. Spencer Abbott (8-8-16), Jr. Gustav Nyquist (4-11-15), Sr. Robby Dee (5-7-12)
Maine's Leading Goaltender: Fr. Dan Sullivan (4-1-1, 2.24 GAA, .901 SV%)
The Eagles look to get back in the win column on Friday night as they host the #3 ranked Maine Black Bears, in a rematch of last year's Hockey East Championship Game. The Black Bears are owners of the nation's third best team offense, scoring 4.1 goals per game. BC's defense is allowing just 2.1 goals a game, good for 7th best in the country.
Trips to Conte Forum haven't been too kind to the Black Bears in recent seasons though, and I think BC wins tonight and John Muse keeps the Eagles in this one. On Sunday, I'm feeling a tie, say 3-3. A three point weekend against a surging Maine team seems a bit optimistic, no? Perhaps, but if there's probably no better time for the defending National Champs to make a statement than this weekend.
Predictions: BC 5-4 (Friday), 3-3 Tie (Sunday)
