Boston College Depth Chart For Florida State Game

Here's the Eagles updated depth chart for the Florida State game. Plenty of changes on the offensive side of the ball as Spaz continues to juggle starters at wide receiver and on the O line to try to get something, anything to work.

The biggest change to this week's depth chart is Rettig starting at quarterback. Marscovetra and Shinskie are both listed as Rettig's backup. Clyde Lee has been replaced as a starting WR by true freshman Bobby Swigert. Alex Amidon slots in behind Swigert.

At left guard, Ian White and Emmett Cleary are now both listed as starting LG, and Bryan Davis appears on the depth chart at backup LG. Mark Spinney also is listed as the backup center along with Andy Gallik. Spinney continues to start at right guard over Claiborne. Cleary replaces Seth Betancourt at right tackle.

The only changes on defense are in the linebacking corps, as Spaz and McGovern continue to play musical chairs with the backup LB spots. This week, Morrissey is listed as the backup SLB, while Thompson is back on the two-deep at MLB.

On special teams, Spaz has listed freshman WR Bobby Swigert as the first-string punt returner, replacing DeLeon Gause. The Eagles are looking for a spark on punt and kickoff returns, as BC has been woeful this year in the return game. BC currently ranks 109th nationally in punt returns (averaging 4.10 yards per return) and 105th nationally in kickoff returns (averaging 19 yards per return). Hopefully, Swigert can provide that spark on punt returns.

Full depth chart after the jump.

Would not worry about kickoff returns as Hopkins has put 60% of kickoffs through the endzone

This team will improve in '10... on its 16-16 conference record over the last 4 years.... after losing 20 games in the last 4 years... after having the 7th worst major-conference defense... after not even winning its own division in the ACC in the last 4.

I think Spaz is on crack going with that much inexperience at WR & QB into Doak

Don't let Fr. or R-Fr. fool you at WR ...

Other than Momah (senior) and Larmond Jr. (out for season), those are our most experienced WRs. Chris Fox and Billy Flutie, both seniors, are not viable options at WR.

Ouch.

I’ll admit I had not paid attention to how young that group is.

Clyde Lee is a sophomore but saw limited action last year (4 catches, 40 yards). He’s also battling a leg injury, I believe.

I would use lots of 2-back sets with 2 TEs

An offensive adjustment based on the personnel available? What a novel idea.

Wouldn't you say best offensive 11 is

QB
5OL
Momah
both TEs
Harris
McCluskey

Momah is a senior but he's not our best WR

Swigert has been our best WR so far and it looks like Coleman has the most raw ability.

Also, Bud I would like to apologize for accusing you of overrating FSU and underrating BC. Now please do us a favor and beat NC State.

No need to apologize

Many of our fans, even after being told repeatedly, didn’t realize how messed up our situation was last year. How could we have expected rival fans to understand it

Our best offensive 11 might be Montel running the Wildcat and all three QBs on the sideline.

wildcat

have we even run that this year? if we have I haven’t noticed, but the wildcat was a good part of the reason Montel torched the NC State defense last year and I don’t remember seeing us use it at all this season… may GT is trying to express confidence in our quarterbacks… oh wait a second

I think we’ve seen the Wildcat once this season. Maybe 2 times?

bad day at black rock

How bad will the "trip to the woodshed " be? Momah can’t catch. He fumbled at the goal line last week and let one zip through his fingers in the end zone. Why can’t Flutie and Fox catch? I say that they can. Flutie for God’s sake is the holder on kicks. Who hates Flutie? Have you seen McMichael catch late in games and run for yardage? He caught a 70 yard td last year. What did he do to get put on the “drown the puppy list” set for Christmas Eve? Again, Momah can’t catch.

So ...

Momah can’t catch?
