Jamie Silva, Colts Head to Super Bowl

If you have no rooting interest in this year's Super Bowl, consider rooting for the Indianapolis Colts and former BC All-American FS Jamie Silva. Silva is a reserve defensive back and special teamer for the AFC Champions. This year marks the tenth straight year that a BC alumni will be on a Super Bowl team roster.

The last BC Eagles to win a Super Bowl were Chris Snee and Mathias Kiwanuka on the Super Bowl XLII Champion New York Giants.

Not only is this year's Super Bowl being played in an ACC stadium (Sun Life Stadium nee Joe Robbie Stadium), but there are also several former ACC players on this year's Super Bowl rosters. In all, eleven players from ACC schools are on a Super Bowl roster, including 3 from Georgia Tech and 3 from Miami.

I wanted to tally all the conferences

but I’m pretty sure the Big 10 has the most and I don’t wanna bring back anymore Iowa fans.

I guess the atmosphere that I've tried to create here is that I'm a friend first and a boss second, and probably an entertainer third.

MAC 6

Makes you wonder if there’s a slight East Coast bias or regional bias on drafting by NFL teams. Maybe they’ll give a shot to a guy who’s from the area over another guy of equal talent just to sell a few more jerseys or fan paraphernalia.

Interesting thought.

Not totally convinced about the bias. If there is one though, I think it’s more a regional bias than an East Coast bias. Check out the schools:

Colts – Buffalo, Kent State, NIU, Temple
Saints – Central Michigan, Kent State, Toledo

Add Jo-Lonn Dunbar to the list, too

Thanks to reader Shawn for pointing this out. I was only looking at the active roster and totally forgot about Dunbar. And I guess if I included Kiwanuka as the one of the last Eagles to win a Super Bowl (he was on IR at the time), then I also should have given JoLonn a shout out.
