2009 Boston College Football: Florida State Gameday Guide

Gold-out-splash-093009-850_medium

Florida State Seminoles (2-2, 0-1 ACC) vs. Boston College Eagles (3-1, 1-1 ACC)

Time: 3:30 p.m. EDT
Date: Saturday, Oct. 03, 2009
Place: Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, Ma.
TV: ESPN/ABC Mirror
Spread: Boston College +4
Weather: T-Showers, 60% chance of rain, high 68 degrees

The Eagles host the Florida State Seminoles and ESPN's College GameDay today on the Heights. The school is tabbing this game as a "gold out" to honor Mark Herzlich's battle against cancer, so be sure to show up glad in gold.

This term is certainly thrown around lightly these days, but the term "virtual must-win" has been thrown around for both Florida State and Boston College. A loss by the Seminoles would put them in an 0-2 hole in the ACC Atlantic that may be too great to overcome. Similarly, BC can ill afford to drop to 1-2 in the ACC if they have any aspirations of winning the Atlantic Division for a third straight season.

I am in Boston for the game and Jeff will be offline for the game. Use this post to talk about the ESPN College GameDay telecast, the game and the rest of the day's college football action.

Go Eagles!

Just ordered my tickets for BC/Maryland

Watching BC hold FSU on a goal line stand and now the way they’re driving up the field gives me lots of hope for this season…they may not be in Tampa in December but they will be the best ACC team the EagleBank Bowl will ever host.

Fuck Spaz

This playcalling shows we are back to the TOB Error and playing not to lose rather than playing to win.

The defensive coordinator should be fired...

After this complete breakdown of the Eagles D today. Of course he could do the right thing and resign. Even with our D in disarray due to the DC our D can’t play much worse.

No way. Sure I was mad at the for a moment

But what do you expect when your offense gives you 3 or 4 plays off cause of a 3 and out and you have to stay on the field so much.

That comeback was all on Spaz and Traquill being dumb and trying to run the clock out. HOW BOUT YOU RUN THE SCORE UP. Who cares? If you get a turnover oh well, at least you were trying to win rather than trying not to lose.

Agreed

Posting in the moment doesn’t allow for reflection. Still a win is a win is a win. BC will probably never be a National Championship contender so the best way to get to a BCS Bowl is to win the ACC and it doesn’t matter how pretty or ugly the wins are as long as BC wins.

Plus if BC has a bunch of ugly wins and sneaks into the Orange Bowl, the line will be ridiculously against BC and friendly wagers amongst friends using the lines will be fun

What a win.

In the drivers seat in the Atlantic. Unbelievable.
